Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Rock Bottom Intel covers over 8,800 rivers and streams across all 50 US states. Our data comes from USGS gauging stations, NOAA weather feeds, and state fish and wildlife agencies. We continuously add new waterways based on user requests and data availability.
The fishing score considers flow rates, water temperature, weather, barometric pressure, seasonal patterns, and species activity to give you a quick read on conditions. A river might score differently for trout vs bass since each species responds to conditions differently. Scores update daily.
Access maps show public and private land along waterways based on federal, state, and local land records. While we work to keep this accurate, land ownership can change and local regulations vary. Always verify access rights locally and respect posted signage. If you find an error, please let us know so we can update it.
Rock Bottom Intel covers all major freshwater and saltwater game fish across the US — trout, bass, walleye, pike, salmon, steelhead, redfish, bonefish, and many more. Each species has its own optimal conditions, so the app can tell you what's likely active on any given day.
Flow and gauge data comes from USGS and updates throughout the day. Weather refreshes regularly. Fishing scores and hatch predictions update daily. Access map data is updated as new information becomes available.
The app caches your most recent data, including river scores, maps, and hatch predictions, so you have access even without cell service. Real-time conditions require an internet connection to update, but cached data remains available. We recommend syncing before heading to remote areas.
Yes. Location data is used solely to show you relevant nearby rivers and conditions. We do not sell or share your location data with third parties. Your fishing spots stay private. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
