Rock Bottom Intel is designed with a privacy-first architecture. Your personal data stays on your device. We do not operate user accounts on our servers, do not track your location via GPS, and do not sell or share your personal information with anyone.

1. Overview

Rock Bottom Intel ("the App," "the Service") is a fishing condition intelligence application developed and operated by Rock Bottom Intel LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information and process nearly all data on your device.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be explicitly clear about what we do not collect:

GPS location data — We do not access your device's GPS, and we do not track your location in the background or foreground
Browsing history or web activity
Contacts, calendar, or address book data
Health or fitness data
Financial or payment information — All payments are processed by Apple; we never see your credit card details
Advertising identifiers (IDFA) — We do not use ad tracking
Device sensor data (accelerometer, gyroscope, etc.)
Call logs, SMS, or messaging data
Microphone or camera access beyond user-initiated photo capture within the App
Cross-app tracking data

4. Location Data

Rock Bottom Intel does not request access to your device's GPS or location services. Instead, the App allows you to optionally enter a city name or zip code to sort fishing waters by distance. This text entry:

Is stored locally on your device only
Is never transmitted to our servers or any third party
Can be changed or removed at any time in the App's settings
Does not enable real-time location tracking

We do not, and technically cannot, determine your precise location through the App.

5. On-Device Photo & Journal Storage

The App provides a journal feature that allows you to capture photos and write entries about your fishing trips. All photos and journal content:

Are stored exclusively on your device's local storage
May be synced to your private iCloud account if you enable iCloud sync (see Section 6)
Are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or accessible by our servers
Are never processed, analyzed, or scanned by us
Are entirely under your control and can be deleted at any time within the App

If you grant the App camera access for photo capture, that permission is used only at the moment you initiate a photo within the App. We do not access your photo library or camera at any other time.

6. iCloud Data Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, certain data (favorites, journal entries, catch logs, and associated photos) may be stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. This data:

Is stored in your personal iCloud container, not in a shared or public database
Is encrypted in transit and at rest per Apple's iCloud security practices
Is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy and iCloud terms
Is accessible only by you, on your devices signed into the same Apple ID
Is not accessible by Rock Bottom Intel LLC — we cannot read, access, or retrieve your iCloud data

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in your device's Settings. Disabling sync does not delete data already stored in iCloud; you must manage iCloud storage through Apple's settings.

The App offers optional Sign in with Apple authentication. When you use this feature:

Apple provides your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email address, at your choice)
This information is stored locally on your device only
We do not transmit this information to our servers
You may choose to use Apple's private email relay, which generates a unique, anonymous email address that forwards to your real email

8. Analytics & Diagnostics

We do not collect any first-party analytics, behavioral data, usage statistics, or telemetry. We do not use any analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar services).

Apple may collect anonymized, aggregated analytics about App usage and crash reports as part of its standard App Store analytics program. This is governed by your device's settings:

Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements — Controls whether Apple collects and shares app analytics with developers
If you have opted into sharing analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with aggregated, non-identifying data such as session counts, crash logs, and device types
This Apple-provided data is fully anonymized and cannot be used to identify individual users

You can disable Apple's analytics sharing at any time in your device's Settings.

9. Third-Party SDKs & Services

The App integrates the following third-party frameworks:

We do not integrate any advertising SDKs, social media SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not use any cross-app tracking frameworks.

10. Third-Party Data Sources

The App displays publicly available data from government agencies and public sources, including:

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) — River flow rates, gauge heights, water temperature
National Weather Service (NWS) — Weather forecasts and current conditions
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) — Climate and weather data
State divisions of water resources — Reservoir storage levels, water rights data
State parks and wildlife agencies — Fishing regulations (for informational reference only)
State departments of transportation — Road condition information

We fetch this data from public APIs and display it in the App. We do not share your personal information with these agencies. Your use of the App does not create any relationship between you and these agencies.

11. Data Retention

Because we store your personal data on your device (not on our servers), data retention is under your control:

On-device data: Retained until you delete it within the App or delete the App itself. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data.
iCloud data: Retained in your iCloud account until you manually delete it or disable iCloud sync. Managed through Apple's iCloud settings.
Apple analytics: Retained by Apple per their data retention policies. We do not retain any analytics data on our systems.
Subscription records: Managed by Apple through the App Store. We do not maintain separate subscription databases.

We do not maintain any server-side databases containing user personal information.

We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We may disclose information only in the following limited circumstances:

Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental regulation. However, because we do not possess your personal data on our servers, we have minimal ability to produce such data.
Business transfer: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your on-device data would not be affected as we do not possess it. Any changes to data practices resulting from a business transfer would be communicated through an updated Privacy Policy.

13. Data Security

Because your personal data is stored on your device and in your private iCloud account, security is primarily managed by Apple's iOS and iCloud security infrastructure, which includes:

Hardware-level device encryption
App sandboxing (other apps cannot access Rock Bottom Intel's data)
Keychain encryption for sensitive credentials
iCloud encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest

We recommend that you protect your device with a strong passcode and enable Face ID or Touch ID. We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from a compromised device.

14. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at privacy@rockbottomintel.com and we will take steps to address the situation.

Because we do not collect personal information on our servers, the practical risk of retaining children's data is minimal. However, parents should be aware that children may create on-device journal entries and catch logs.

15. Your Privacy Rights (CCPA / California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide you with specific rights regarding your personal information:

Right to Know: You have the right to request what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell. As described in this policy, we collect minimal data, all stored on your device.
Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. You can delete all app data by deleting the App from your device and managing iCloud storage through Apple's settings.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to do so.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
Right to Correct: You can correct any personal information stored in the App by editing it directly within the App.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@rockbottomintel.com. We will respond within forty-five (45) days.

Categories of personal information collected in the preceding 12 months: Identifiers (name, email via Sign in with Apple, stored on-device only). Categories sold: None. Categories disclosed for business purposes: None.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent local laws:

Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. Because all data is stored on your device, you already have direct access.
Right to Rectification: You may correct inaccurate data directly within the App.
Right to Erasure: You may delete your data by removing it from the App or deleting the App.
Right to Restrict Processing: You may request we restrict processing of your data. As we do not process your data on our servers, this right is inherently satisfied.
Right to Data Portability: You may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format. Journal and catch log data can be exported from within the App.
Right to Object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. We do not process your personal data for such purposes.
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by adjusting your device settings or deleting the App.

Legal basis for processing: Where applicable, we process personal data based on your consent (Sign in with Apple, optional location entry) and for the performance of a contract (providing the Service per our Terms of Service).

17. Do Not Track

The App does not track users across third-party websites or services, so we do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. This is because there is no tracking to disable — we do not engage in any form of cross-site or cross-app tracking.

We also comply with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. The App does not request tracking permission because it does not track users.

In accordance with Apple's App Store requirements, we provide the following privacy nutrition label disclosures:

Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy)

The App includes Apple's required privacy manifest file declaring all API usage, tracking domains (none), and data collection practices in a machine-readable format.

19. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will:

Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
Provide notice through the App where appropriate

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
